Frequently Asked Questions
What is a K-E-A-N Canada Event?
K-E-A-N Canada Events is a volunteer-run, community-based organization that hosts events for adults exploring consensual kink, BDSM, and alternative relationship dynamics. Our goal is to create inclusive, educational, and safer spaces where attendees can learn, connect, and express themselves authentically. K-E-A-N stands for Kinksters Experienced And New.
Who are your events for?
Our events are open to adults (18+) of all experience levels who are respectful, open-minded, and interested in consensual kink and alternative lifestyles. We welcome individuals, couples, triads, and polycules of all orientations, genders, and backgrounds.
Are these events LGBTQIA2S+ friendly?
Absolutely. K-E-A-N Events are explicitly inclusive of people of all gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations. We center 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, and many of our team members and presenters come from within queer communities. We are committed to creating spaces that are welcoming, affirming, and safe for everyone.
Do I need to be kinky to attend?
Not necessarily! While our events are kink-focused, you don’t need to be experienced in kink or BDSM to attend. Many of our workshops are beginner-friendly, and our events are a great place to explore your curiosity in a safe, supportive environment. We welcome anyone who is respectful, open to learning, and aligns with our core values. We do ask that have open minded and respectful to all (or all in our community).
I’m nervous or new or returning after a break. Is there someone I can talk to?
Yes! We get it—walking into a kink event for the first time can feel intimidating. If you are new, nervous or returning to events, our events have hosts and info tables available to answer questions and help you feel more comfortable. You’re not alone—we’ve all been new!
Is this legal?
Yes. K-E-A-N Canada Events operates within the legal frameworks of Canadian provinces where our events take place. All play must be consensual, between adults, and follow local laws. Illegal activities (including non-consensual acts, drug distribution, or solicitation of sex for money at events) are not permitted.
We work hard to ensure our events do not cross legal boundaries, and we ask attendees to do the same.
Are your events public or private?
While K-E-A-N Canada Events are public-facing, they are not fully open to the general public like a music festival might be. Our events are carefully curated spaces designed for adult attendees interested in kink, BDSM, and consensual non-normative sexuality. We value safety, consent, and shared values, and we prioritize fostering a community where participants feel comfortable and respected.
What should I expect at an event?
Each event varies! You might find:
Workshops and demos (e.g., rope, consent negotiation, impact play).
Dungeon and take over events.
Discussion groups or Q&A sessions.
Social mixers or play parties (depending on the event).
Vendors offering kink gear..
Educational materials.
Detailed information is available in each event listing at k-e-a-n.com/events.
Do I have to participate in play?
Not at all! Many people attend just to learn, meet others, or observe. Participation is always optional, and you can always change your mind at any time.
However all parties must consent to play to negotiation terms, if you do play, only play to your level of comfort.
What should I wear?
Munches: These are in public spaces, so casual or discreet kink-friendly clothing is great.
Dungeon Nights: Wear what helps you feel confident, sexy, or expressive — from black jeans to latex!
Educational, Social Nights, and Conference Events: The Dress code will be listed in the event details. If you’re unsure, please ask us!
Does K-E-A-N Canada Events have a membership?
Nope! There’s no membership required. Just register and pay for the events you want to attend.
Are your events accessible?
We aim to make our events as accessible as possible. If the event space is not accessible, we do include that in the posting. Some venues are wheelchair-accessible, and we do our best to provide quiet spaces or seating when needed. If you have specific accessibility needs, please reach out before the event, and we’ll do what we can to support you.

In either case, please email us directly if you need assistance with your refund or rescheduling preference.

What are your Photography and Media policies?
Photography and Media We take privacy and discretion seriously at K-E-A-N Canada Events. While we do not allow photos or videos of people without explicit consent, here’s some clarification:

- WCPE Recording: Some or all parts of the Western Canada Power Exchange contest will be recorded for later viewing and promotional purposes. Contestants and attendees will be notified in advance, and permission will be obtained.
- Social and Munch Events: For social gatherings and munches, photos and recordings are typically more permissible. However, we still ask that you seek consent from people in the photo or video, especially if it’s being shared online.
- General Rule: Please remember to be respectful and mindful of everyone’s comfort and privacy. If you’re ever unsure whether it’s okay to take a photo or video, always ask for consent first.
- Dungeon, Play Party and Take Over Photography & Privacy: No personal photography or video is permitted. Phones must remain out of sight. You may not attend any professional media, legal, or investigative capacity.

Still have questions about what’s allowed? Ask ahead of time for the best results!

We take consent and safety seriously. If a concern is raised, we follow up respectfully and thoroughly. Consequences may include removal from the event or future events. If something happens, talk to a host or send us an email. We’re here to help.
How do you deal with Conflict Resolution & Guest Behavior issues?
We are committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and respectful environment at all K-E-A-N Canada Events. If a conflict arises, we encourage clear communication and written follow-up to ensure all concerns are properly addressed. We value constructive feedback and will not tolerate the broadcasting of grievances online without first allowing us the chance to address them respectfully.
Addressing Concerns: If a conflict or issue occurs during a K-E-A-N Canada event, we encourage those involved to reach out to us via email at keancanadaevents@gmail.com.
While we do welcome in-person conversations, having concerns in writing allows us to properly follow up and address the matter thoroughly. We are here to listen, provide support, and find a resolution whenever possible.
Event Incident Reports: If a situation needs to be formally addressed, please submit an email. This helps ensure we have all the details to review and follow up on the matter properly. Incident reports should include as much detail as possible. We may follow up with additional questions. Our goal is to support you, make sure you feel safe, and help prevent it from happening again to you or anyone else.
Scope of Action: We can only take action regarding concerns or complaints that occurred at a K-E-A-N event. While we may not be able to act on issues from outside our events, we welcome relevant information as part of maintaining a safe space.
Guest Behavior and Charges
To attend K-E-A-N Canada Events, you must confirm during registration that you have not been charged with any criminal offense related to violence, domestic abuse, or child abuse. This affirmation is part of our waiver and is critical to ensuring the safety of our guests. If it is discovered that a guest has charges related to conflict, violence, abuse, or other serious misconduct, we reserve the right to evaluate their eligibility to attend future events, including the possibility of denying access to protect the safety and well-being of our community.
This process is done with the safety and well-being of all guests in mind. We aim to protect our community and maintain a positive environment.
We understand that conflicts can happen, but we expect all attendees to resolve them respectfully and follow the event guidelines. If you ever feel unsafe or need support, please contact us immediately via email. We will take your concern seriously and work to find a resolution.
What if I have concerns about someone in the community?
We know this can be difficult. If you have concerns about someone’s behavior at or outside an event, or if they are attending an event, you can contact us confidentially. We will handle your report with care and discretion. We are not the police, but we can limit someone’s participation in our events if needed for safety. It is best to contact us via email at keancanadaevents@gmail.com with these concerns. The safety of everyone in our community is important to us.
We also provide resources for those impacted by harm.
